We were heavily emphasising going with a weight that you could sustain good technique throughout the workout. This requires an educated guess up to a point. Sometimes it is apparent that it was too comfortable, sometimes too much and sometimes (hopefully most of the time) it’s just right. In all cases it is a learning experience and one to refer to in future, hence the importance of recording details of the workout. The amount of detail recorded depends on your goals. The more serious you are about the competitive or progressive training results the more detail you should note, particularly on benchmark workouts. The simple act of recording times and weights offers a moment of reflection and is an undervalued tool for most people as it is also motivating to see your effort on paper. The evidence of your hard work is right in front of you. If you keep a good journal it is a very satisfying feeling to look back and chart your progress.

What he said, Jess 😉 I need to master my ‘shrug’ before adding more weight. 20kgs felt just right for me yesterday to work on my technique. I think I may have been able to add that extra weight and taken my time to complete the WOD but would have very painful arms today from just ‘chucking’ the bar up. Cheers for asking me, you must think I’m really strong ;)…
Well done yesterday to you too! And to Pip. Congratulations!! So great to see those pics of you both proudly showing off your talents in those CFK shirts. I can tell everyone I train with those two champions!!
