For those who like some statistics, this is an interesting post worth taking a look at. The author analysed the last three years of open games and found interesting numbers regarding which workouts/movements to expect during the five weeks of the open.
Of all the workouts during the last three open games, snatch, burpee, thruster, pull-up and jerk represent 50% of all programmed movements. The author also found that almost 80% of the programmed movements can be classified as Olympic-style lifts and basic bodyweight gymnastics. Interesting to know that max loads (i.e. max deadlift) and chippers have never been programmed…
In regards to weight, it has been found that one third of the movements in the last three years have been heavier than 61kg/136lb for men (no info available for women). Finally, it will be very rare to see a workout with a single movement, very likely to see combinations of up to two or three movements again but not 4 or more.
Anyway, take a look and let us know your thoughts.
