Thanks to everyone who has participated in the 100 reasons to do CrossFit discussion, and especially Steph for her fantastic words yesterday. I am loving this….let it continue!
Reason I love cfk:
Cause I did 2 pull ups on a blue band today yay!!!!! Thanks to JO D and CHristian for the encouragement I needed to give it a go. I’m so excited!!!!
Steph, this effort of yours today embodies my #1 reason for opening a CrossFit box – Performance, or more crudely “Doing”. I will also use this moment as a reference point in responding to your comment from yesterday regarding the scales.
For many people, losing weight is a primary goal to be achieved through their involvement in an exercise program, and rightly so. However, the reason I don’t focus on what the scales say is because losing weight is not something you “do” and must therefore be relegated to only a secondary concern at best as your trainer.
Losing weight is the result of getting your lifestyle factors in order, primarily having your nutrition sorted out and maintaining a consistent approach to training. These are the things you “do” to make losing weight possible. PERFORM.
By focusing on improving your performance, measuring all the gains, increasing your work capacity, you are “doing” the things required to meet your goals. Importantly the effort required, or the journey, becomes an intrinsic part of the reward. This is a vital aspect of sticking with it and why it is so important to record your scores, set realistic performance goals, reflect on your progress, celebrate the milestones, because these are things you can do. Take the focus away from the scales. DO THE RIGHT STUFF AND OTHER OBJECTIVES HAPPEN AS A SIMPLE MATTER OF COURSE.
So, your performance today is a credit to your perseverance and all the hard work you’ve put in over the last few months and something to celebrate. Hats off to you Smiley.

OH, I LOVE CROSSFIT!
I have a rule in my life that goes like this…
‘if I would feel comfortable having my children spend time with this person, being exposed to their values & core beliefs, then I could consider that person a friend and valuable addition to mine, and my childrens lives’ these are rare in ‘civvy’ street, but I would be proud for my children to spend time with ALL of you guys! ;-P
My 100 reasons to GO to Crossfit… I need to GO 100 times in the hope that one day I will read the WOD on the whiteboard and actually understand what it means!!! A few reasons why I’ve been 10 times so far… I’m starting to love it without feeling like exercise is a chore, everyone is friendly, Jim, April and Paula are on the ball to help me improve my form, I’ve got calluses on my hands already and I live in hope that one day the chalk on my shoulders will be used because I’m lifting HUGE weight!
I wish there was a like button ..I would “like ” all the comments with it! Especially Steph with her inspirational pull up work this morning! I thought her comment the other day was so off the mark when she said she had un-inspiring results on the board (is that even a word?) O-lift skills – Tick! Wicked sports injury – Tick! Full body push up – Tick! Bridge to Brisbane – Tick! Pull up – Tick! And heaps more but I have to get back to work. Looking more and more awesome every day Steph!

You’re just fishing for some free babysitting aren’t you? Your comment would have read like this…
“I don’t care who it is, if any of you lot want to look after my kids for a few days you can have ’em! Indoctrinate them into your belief system, that’s cool, but don’t bother phoning me I’ll be out of range. Anyone? Or even better, Everyone?”
